GAH I AM SORRY EVERYONE FOR BEING SO AWAY

Haha when's the last time I came here.... my life is washed away by school... haha... long story short: chinese art school teachers think we're all super natural beings with no need for breaks/meal time/free time/sleep..... hahah *empty eyes* I just barely got some time today to deal with some of my neglected sites so the first one I'm updating is my DA /o/

Here's a few things of interest/FAQs:
My tumblr is gone, yes. The exact reason isn't sure but I'm pretty sure it was related to it being hacked or something (idk if someone would report my art tumblr??) but either way I would not be returning to tumblr for a while since I've had more and more problems with people reposting my stuff without credit, people claiming my art as theirs, and people editing my artwork. I barely have time to go on the computer these days anyways (just check friends' tumblrs during break on my phone...) so I probably won't get an art blog for a while now. I'm sorry for the inconvenience!!
I understand this will probably be a huge agitation to my commissioners but as you can probably understand from my opening statement that even if I wanted to (and GOD do I want to I MISS DRAWING ANIMUS) I have to say officially that commissions are on hiatus. I can honestly say I am barely keeping up with the homework our teachers give us (about 10+ hours of drawing everyday AFTER school) that I barely have time to open my laptop and go online. My tablet has been sitting inactive under my piles of used sketchbooks for school. HOWEVER I am not going to make you all wait in vain!! For any commissioners currently already paid, you are able to claim a FULL BODY DRAWING of your character along with the chibi you have commissioned, but PLEASE note me! Since my time is already limited I can only offer this to those commissioners who are still active. The other commissioners will get their original orders.
on the subject of orders, if there are any of you on GAIA ONLINE and know about my art shop there from back in the summer time, THE SAME APPLIES BUT YOU HAVE TO PM me here or on GAIA to claim this offer. I am sorry for those on gaia online too for the inactivity (I have not logged into gaia at all for several months now orz although I have the refs all saved on my laptop just no time to draw)
Online store is gone with my art tumblr, and all sales are put on hold. The orders that are already paid for will be mailed out at earliest convenience of ~radiostarkiller as they are in possession of ALL of my merch (but currently do not have a reliable mode of transportation or internet) My paypal is also not available for use due to my bank account changes after my mother's passing last year, but if you contact ~radiostarkiller in the future she might have something worked out in terms of payment (that's all AFTER my online store reopens)
Not that I think anyone cares, but our circle Paprika Carnival will probably not be participating in any conventions in these coming years. Both RSK and I have had many troubles IRL and now are both finally able to settle down and pace ourselves to catch up to our lives (proper education>future career). Although I will definitely NOT stop being an illustrator (I hope to release an art book in the future!) we both cannot partake in any cons since RSK is busy working day and night to save up money for school and I am in China. Once I have more free time I will start filling my DA again with kawaii desu uguu and reopen my online shop!

I am going to be gross and cheesy for a moment and say that coming back to DA after all this time and seeing so many comments and favorites and watches made me cry from happiness. I'm so happy that you guys are still all here for me even though I have been away and inactive. I hope you all will wait for my comeback and I won't fail you with more cute cute moe girls! Thank you all so much for supporting me! Let's all work hard this new year! \^o^/

Hello everyone, there's something that has been bothering me as of late.

Sad to say I'm used to art thieves now, but I am slowly starting to encounter a different type of theft, one that isn't just plainly uploading a piece of artwork that is not theirs.

I've been getting notices more and more from helpful deviants regarding people using my artwork, mostly my chibi, to make bases, or to trace over directly and claim the artwork as theirs.

That is considered theft.

Regarding the bases, it is not theft if you use a base with permission, nor if you create a base from scratch with an original drawing. However it is theft if you take an image from the internet, trace over it directly, then upload it and claim it as your own. I'm not sure what the schools are teaching these days regarding proper citation, but "google images" or "zerochan" or simply "pixiv/tumblr/danbooru/internet" are NOT PROPER SOURCES.

The only artists I've known who thinks imitation means flattery are artists who don't get their artworks stolen/edited on a regular basis. If your argument for doing these things is to "spread the nice art you found" or "pay homage because it's so pretty and you want to draw like that", then think... would a farmer feel flattered and happy if you steal their crops with the excuse that you admire their farming skills and wish you could have such great corn? No, they'd call you a filthy thief, and that is what you are. If you admire their skill or art work, it should push yourself to develop your own skills! Or if you really need to reference something, there are plenty of free source referencing website and resources available ALL over the internet. If you really MUST use this specific artwork for reference, at least have the common decency to ask the artist. I personally have never gotten mad or refused a respectful note asking if they could, with proper credit, reference a pose or composition or art work, and I'm always excited and happy to see the end result! (to those who has always asked me for permission for art use, thank you.)

It doesn't hurt anyone to take two seconds to think "hey, is what I'm doing really ok?". It also doesn't hurt to use helpful resources like google reverse image search or saucenao to look for the original source. I hope if you're old enough and well-off enough to have internet access, you should know the difference between right and wrong. Why would you rather steal off someone else's hard work for a small slice of popularity? Wouldn't you rather have a guiltless heart and be proud of being known for something you created by yourself?

Before anyone actually is stupid enough to bring it out, I will address a counter-argument I've seen on the internet, particularly relating to "editing" as seen on tumblr: "If they don't want their work to get stolen, they shouldn't have put it on the internet in the first place! Welcome to da intarwebs, n00bs"

NO. JUST NO. STOP.

Artists, and anyone else who creates things, put their work out there to share with the world. We do it out of positive feelings of sharing or expanding or even showing off. To say that someone who shares should EXPECT their work to be stolen or edited without permission, is like saying people who open stores shouldn't complain if they get robbed, or even expect to be robbed. We live in, hopefully, a civilized society, with civilized people who have morals and values. If I were to drop you off in a country where there isn't a sense of security and any moment anyone can just burst in to your home and steal your stuff, then when you complain, the only response you get is "well you shouldn't have bought things to put in your home!", then what would you think? I doubt you'd blame yourself for being robbed.

These ~pretty pictures~ you see on the internet is not randomly created from thin air. These images, no matter how "animu" or "pro" they seem, are drawn by hand by a PERSON. An actual human being just like you who worked maybe 20 minutes maybe 20 hours on a piece of artwork. They might have studied tirelessly about art, and put a lot of hard work and sweat into being able to draw how they do now, and for you to simply take an image from the "intarwebs" and then blatantly trace over it or make a base or simply edit it and then upload it claiming as your own, you're a THIEF. The internet is smaller than you think, and you will get caught.

This was a rant that I typed out after getting too many people "referencing" my works without credit or credit to (the now infamous ground for thieves) "zerochan". If you're going to come here making sassy remarks about my grammar or spelling or cohesion consider yourself banned from my page.
